Jason Castro, "So Fast" Original Tune by Jason Castro

Here's a really potentially brilliant tune written by Jason Castro. Blue-eyes is not only beautiful to look at, he's creative. Man, listen, he can really sing.
Video after the jump.

"So Fast"

Lyrics:
And the flowers are wrinkled, and she, she still don't understand
The measures a man can go. Oh Bless her soul
Tears are no longer fallin', but what happens when the river dries, and leaves you dyin' inside
But it's not her fault, but she, but she can't go on
Thinkin' there's somethin' that she could've done, that she could've done

And the song is slowly dyin'
But you went so fast
Why were we, why were we so unkind?
Oh, and now there's no words to say that will ever change
The way you took your life, with the slip of a finger

And he looks in the mirror
And it's filled with hate
The enemy has so many times escaped
But it's not his fault
But he, no he can't go on
Thinkin' that things could've been different
If he'd have held his tongue

And the song is slowly dyin'
But you went so fast
Why were we, why were we so unkind?
Oh, and now there's no words to say that will ever change
The way you went, the way you left this world

And the song is slowly dyin'
But you went so fast
Why were we, why were we so unkind?
Oh, and now there's no words to say that will ever change
The way you took your life, with the slip of a finger

A little rough in spots but pretty good. His voice is unique and with the right songs, I really think he could make it.

  4. nice clip...I think he has a future, but maybe not with Andrew Lloyd Webber.

  5. Can't win them all. Cook on the other hand did the Broadway thing just fine.

The story behind this video is Castro was wasted when he recorded it. No direct confirmation of that, but perhaps he needs a 'shot of encouragement' this next week before he takes the stage. ha. He has a lovely voice. *dabbing my eye with Kleenex as I listen again*

I loved him on American Idol because he always displayed the potential to be something quite different than previous Idol winners. I'm glad he didn't win and doesn't have to suffocate under Clive Davis pop infused wings. He can proudly stand amongst Jack Johnson, Ray Lamontagne, Dylan and yes, Marley. This song is an impressive display of what's to come.

  7. I missed seeing him last night, he always gave the show a special light.

Finishing fourth is good. I had hoped he go to fourth or third. Thing is he's so inexperienced, hard to tell how long before he comes out with more material. This song is very good.

    The correct lyrics are as follows;

(she, she still don't understand....): "The MEASURES a man can go. Oh Bless her soul"

    Please correct that! Thankyou :)

  9. Anonymous, I just pasted and copied those lyrics from another Jason Castro site. These are the lyrics that consistently came up on-line.

Correction noted here in comments. It's a great little tune.
