Taylor Hicks and Jake Davis, Chi-Town Video

Jake Davis is the guy selected to create Taylor Hicks' first song video in promotion of Mr. Hicks' new material CD due out March 10, 2009. He graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, was nominated MTV student visionary filmmaker and hired while still in school, by Wieden+Kennedy to direct a short film for Nike. Man, this guy's no slacker.

Understated to say his resume is impressive - Taylor Hicks should have a brilliant video resulting from time spent with him. Checking out Jake's website, today he had posted a collage of ideas featured as Taylor Hicks Inspirations.

From the images Jake's collected, he's thinking throwback and old school which is very cool, very part of Taylor's sound, part of what influenced him in his music. There's also this type of music that has played a part:

Another thing that caught my attention, Mr. Davis is involved as a collaborator with international skate/streetwear brand Supreme, which made me wonder if maybe he's familiar with an aquaintance of mine who works with the 'new' GOST line.

Naturally I'm looking forward to see what comes out of this, interesting to see how they're going to work around Chi Town's wintry weather - which hey, could lend an even better vibe to the shoot.
"Inspiration" Gipsy Kings (Nothing to do with any 'Hicksian' inspiration, something that popped into my mind.)

  1. That's what I'm talking about! This is the way Taylor's career should have been handled from the beginning.

Caryl I agree, he is getting what he should have had from the begining. If he had all that is working for him now promotion/video's I think things might have been alot different for him post Idol.
