Where in the World is Taylor Hicks?

Taylor Hicks seems to be missing in action these days; no word on his myspace site nor news popping up on-line. Regarding a release of any new material, the most recent information regarding his "Whomp at the Warfield" DVD was back at the end of last year. That same posting found on his website also reported a new Cd was in the works. Both were promised to be released this year. Granted this is only March, but time marches on rapidly, and it would be nice for an update. Thing is there may not be anything to 'update' the fans on - too that post has since disappeared from the site. The only new information relating to the world of Taylor Hicks was his Regis and Kelly appearance and his celebrity basketball foray.

March 29 he is still on the roster to perform at the Greenhill School here in Dallas, Texas but no other information provided outside of the School's website. I'd think Mr. Hicks or whoever is in charge of his postings on the Myspace page would have at least a mention on the website regarding this event.

My blog has been receiving a huge number of hits lately, many inquiries regarding Jason Castro, but also a large number of fans seeking information on Mr. Hicks. The most common entry that brings them here asks the question, Where is Taylor Hicks? and the second highest inquiry I've seen ask about the release date for the DVD and the CD. Idol Blues has no more information on what is happening in the world of Taylor than any of the other Hicks blogs out there. That said, speaking of Taylor Hicks blogs, I have been seeing a decrease in the number of sites about the man. (R.I.P. TFHzone, I once loved to visit ye.) This decrease in the number of blogs and websites about Taylor Hicks could indicate a diminishing of interest or a lack of material to write about.

I will say to those seeking information on these subjects, I'd love to have something to tell you, but I am just an independent blogger with no real world ties to Taylor Hicks.

The Fanatics have issued a post regarding the lack of Taylor Hicks' Cds available in stores. Sadly, though, with a representative like Jeanni running this particular page and carrying on like Paula Abdul once her meds kick in or out, it's entertaining but makes little sense. Jeanni brings in her trademark 'legal evidence' rant, part of it includes, "Cause why? Well, let me just say I have my own idea’s…after reading court documents from the FCC / Attorney General’s office… That TPTB / SONY / Clive “snake” Davis…had paid at least 12 MILLION in fines to the FCC, well gee whiz…wonder why and for what?"

You can spot Jeanni postings anyplace on-line, the poor lass never has figured out the correct possessive formats, and it almost takes a cryptographer to try and read what point she may be attempting to make. Too, anyone who bothered to follow the Tale of Two Women Taylor Hicks' story would realize Jeanni's knowledge of legalese and her 'experts' are a big pile of - two words: Aaron Ruffcorn.

One coherent point the formerly known as "Caroline Lyders Fan Club" Fanatics brought up - the lack of radio play regarding Taylor Hicks music. Notably I've never heard Hicks played in the Dallas market on any of the radio outlets. I have heard "Do I make You Proud" while on visits to my neighborhood Walgreens. Walgreens apparently plays an assortment of American Idol tracks from a variety of contestants in their muzak line-up.

The background on the story regarding the lack of radio play for anything Taylor Hicks has issued has run something like this:
a) His music released to date has no place in the stations' music line-up.
b) His Cd has not been made available to the station for play.
c) It's not up to the radio stations, rather the record producers to make the material available for airplay.
d) His sound simply holds no commercial appeal.

All of the above reasons have absolutely no real world validity, all these excuses simply some type of formulated spin. Too, there are several songs in his post-Idol material that would make viable play in at least the soft rock stations' line-ups, Soul Thing comes immediately to my mind.

The Right Place, the song he sang on Regis and Kelly is definitely another tune that should have a place in the radio line-ups. I have always been curious why that particular track has never been released as a single. This was a song supposedly originally written for Ray Charles for heaven's sake. Think if Ray had recorded it he'd been told it wasn't a radio friendly offering? Hell no. He'd perhaps be up for a Grammy or something, critics fawning all over the piece. Taylor haters be damned, Mr. Hicks does a great job on the song whenever he performs it.

It does give me pause to wonder why the seemingly shunning by the 19E group of Taylor Hicks continues. He made such an impact on and for their show. In articles I have managed to find, rumors exist that Mr. Hicks is still being held "mum" regarding being able to comment on anything American Idol related. That is some stringent contract. (Perhaps Jeanni and her 'experts' should go to work on that aspect...wait, nevermind.)

So, to those asking "Where in the world is Taylor Hicks?", I have no answer.

Crazy Lady Fanatics: "Somebody to Love", or "The Birds" Revisited ?

Taylor Hicks' Idol Blues was treated yesterday to a swarm of angry, cawing fans following my post written as a rejoinder to the statements and topics I had reviewed lately at the Caroline Lyders Fan Club. It seems they cannot let MFOYA go. It has become so ingrained in this group's psyche to HAVE to have someone to hate, rather than "Somebody to Love" as sung by Queen, that they grow restless, unhappy and discontented. I turned in last night and let them parTay on through the night without me. I had a real man to go tuck in you see...

Taylor Hicks, if the poor guy has any knowledge of the ongoing vicious and shrill harpies over at the Crazy Ladies' Fan Club, and my relationship with them, must be either laughing his ass off or groaning in embarrassment - or both. It's interesting to me how their minds seem to operate much like those organized attacks of the crows in that Alfred Hitchcock thriller. They feed on the same conscious streams of thought. One idea that fits nicely in their tortured minds, they should be able to write anything they want and it should be viewed as proper and intelligent. Above all, socially right and acceptable. They seriously believe they are being held as high example to the other Taylor Hicks' fan sites and their antics and activities seen in a positive light. One other thought process I experienced as I watched them, they honestly believe it is absolutely fine to insult others, cast their stones but none allowed to fall their direction or the person responding must be crazy. It's not crazy that they rant and rave, no that's normal to them. Too, as seen in yesterday's post, there was nothing to do with Taylor Hicks, personally, yet many are in my comment box right now fonting (hahaha) away how I have said so many hateful things about Taylor Hicks. Seeing as how yesterday's post was about them...are they so vested as fans as to think that somehow they ARE Taylor Hicks? It happens.

Taylor Hicks enthusiasts, certainly, but also individuals with obvious issues concerning their pragmatism, humor, and perhaps, intelligence. Sense of fairness or justice are completely absent rather like that of the lack of conscience seen in a sociopath. Sociopathic people are able to go out and commit crimes and feel no remorse, these folks harassing me seem to all have in their souls that same trait.

Taylor Hicks obviously, as a performer and artist needs fans, and I am sure these gals are some of his most ardent. I am put in mind, easily by the type of folk who followed Jim Jones, or David Koresh. Blind and mindless loyalty, driven by a passion born of perhaps having a kink or break present along that long and winding DNA strand. These Fanatics believe strongly in their site's leader being able to censor comments, to insult other folks, and manipulate commentary to her whim. They have big fun laughing at the commentary left in this Chill's little spam box, yet if I do the same on my site simply because the comments are boring, name calling and saying things that have nothing to do with the post, they find that unfair. Some left me many messages repeating the same things... Rinse, wash repeat. Henry8 and reader are currently in the holding room because their only contribution was to call me insane repeatedly and how I have shown my True Colors. I said, "What"?

In Reality, if they could visit that enchanted Isle, they would see how completely ridiculous and pathetic their hammering their little fists against my comment box looks, and how quite possibly the insanity should be attributed to themselves. Henry8 and this reader spend countless hours on my site. Reader was habitually copy and pasting posts off of this site to Splash for quite a while. That individual is more obsessed with me than is really comfortable, but thankfully they live a distance from Texas.

Taylor Hicks Blues has been a site in which I have enjoyed blogging out of for a long time. It began just about Taylor but as real news and information about the guy became scarce or repetitive, I chose to talk about other musical interests. For now though, this site has been intrigued with that bastion of Fanatics on the Caroline Lyders Fan Club. It's like nothing I have ever witnessed before.

For now, this story about these Taylor Hicks fans continues. It is a part of the man's career and I'll continue to work it to see where it goes. My Darling Man has a few concerns about what he's read in the comment box. He feels that many of the contributors really and seriously have more than one strand crossed in their DNA jungle. I'm not intimidated by the likes of these on-line cyber-bullies and their witless leader. I've not committed any 'crime' against Taylor Hicks, but like those witch hunters in Salem, who were convinced innocents were evil and burned them at the stake, these cyber marauders continue to harass me. Chill, the Caroline Lyders' Fan Club leader even wrote in one of her comments she liked the comparison, their being "witch hunters" not realizing the implications of her words.

Regarding the Fanatics and their time in the Sun yesterday, I think I provided what they craved and needed - somebody to hate. I fed them the nourishment their combined tortured souls demand. As my comment box began to fill with the same words, reading through some of their identical postings on Chill's they kept repeating yesterday, of that Alfred Hitchcock movie, "The Birds", and I, Tippy Hedren. I kept hearing these screaming and cawing shrieks as their Witch Hunt site leader, Chill egged them on.

Well, I am Excited

Taylor Hicks Idol Blues blogstress, and blogcritics.org sometime contributor, may get an early Christmas present. I know I have been sometimes naughty so perhaps all I will get is a lump of coal, but here's hoping...

I covered "Rock Star: Supernova" for Reality TV Calendar and blogcritics.org during the last season run. I tried to be completely unbiased but wound up becoming a big fan of Magni Ásgeirsson the rocker from Iceland. I intuitively knew that Lukas Rossi was the hand-picked winner by Tommy Lee, the master of disaster. Even Lukas has saved a bit of one of my pieces on his website. It is here. Rossi indeed a talent unto himself, but Magni my favorite of the talented group assembled for this really entertaining show put together by Mark Burnett.

This is one of my favorite tunes Magni performed:
"Dolphin's Cry":

I loved Nirvana, I'm a huge closet grunge junkie but detested any band who dared tried to cover Kurt Cobain; it was pure travesty.
Until Magni:
"Smells Like Teen Spirit":

"Heroes"
This tune exemplifies Magni's grace, talent and why "Supernova" the Rockstar band failed - stupid band head honcho. Magni is blazingly sexy, a complete musician, an Artist.:

Being the on-line participant I can be with these reality music shows - the only reality shows I care about - I lived on the Rock Star Boards. (Research for articles of course...) I found myself writing on Magni's 'blog' weekly like a fangurly fangurl. I embarrass myself, seriously. One of the weeks the fans were to campaign for a song for each performer to, well, perform, I made a huge on-line board push for this song. (Sort of the way I rallied for Taylor Hicks to do "In The Ghetto" on Elvis week.) I thought it a real 'winner' for that week. It was.
"Hush"

This is one of my favorite new tunes from Magni on his new album. It's heady, sexy, emotional, dramatic and full of deep soul. This video was taken during a practice session.
