Where in the World is Taylor Hicks?

Taylor Hicks seems to be missing in action these days; no word on his myspace site nor news popping up on-line. Regarding a release of any new material, the most recent information regarding his "Whomp at the Warfield" DVD was back at the end of last year. That same posting found on his website also reported a new Cd was in the works. Both were promised to be released this year. Granted this is only March, but time marches on rapidly, and it would be nice for an update. Thing is there may not be anything to 'update' the fans on - too that post has since disappeared from the site. The only new information relating to the world of Taylor Hicks was his Regis and Kelly appearance and his celebrity basketball foray.

March 29 he is still on the roster to perform at the Greenhill School here in Dallas, Texas but no other information provided outside of the School's website. I'd think Mr. Hicks or whoever is in charge of his postings on the Myspace page would have at least a mention on the website regarding this event.

My blog has been receiving a huge number of hits lately, many inquiries regarding Jason Castro, but also a large number of fans seeking information on Mr. Hicks. The most common entry that brings them here asks the question, Where is Taylor Hicks? and the second highest inquiry I've seen ask about the release date for the DVD and the CD. Idol Blues has no more information on what is happening in the world of Taylor than any of the other Hicks blogs out there. That said, speaking of Taylor Hicks blogs, I have been seeing a decrease in the number of sites about the man. (R.I.P. TFHzone, I once loved to visit ye.) This decrease in the number of blogs and websites about Taylor Hicks could indicate a diminishing of interest or a lack of material to write about.

I will say to those seeking information on these subjects, I'd love to have something to tell you, but I am just an independent blogger with no real world ties to Taylor Hicks.

The Fanatics have issued a post regarding the lack of Taylor Hicks' Cds available in stores. Sadly, though, with a representative like Jeanni running this particular page and carrying on like Paula Abdul once her meds kick in or out, it's entertaining but makes little sense. Jeanni brings in her trademark 'legal evidence' rant, part of it includes, "Cause why? Well, let me just say I have my own idea’s…after reading court documents from the FCC / Attorney General’s office… That TPTB / SONY / Clive “snake” Davis…had paid at least 12 MILLION in fines to the FCC, well gee whiz…wonder why and for what?"

You can spot Jeanni postings anyplace on-line, the poor lass never has figured out the correct possessive formats, and it almost takes a cryptographer to try and read what point she may be attempting to make. Too, anyone who bothered to follow the Tale of Two Women Taylor Hicks' story would realize Jeanni's knowledge of legalese and her 'experts' are a big pile of - two words: Aaron Ruffcorn.

One coherent point the formerly known as "Caroline Lyders Fan Club" Fanatics brought up - the lack of radio play regarding Taylor Hicks music. Notably I've never heard Hicks played in the Dallas market on any of the radio outlets. I have heard "Do I make You Proud" while on visits to my neighborhood Walgreens. Walgreens apparently plays an assortment of American Idol tracks from a variety of contestants in their muzak line-up.

The background on the story regarding the lack of radio play for anything Taylor Hicks has issued has run something like this:
a) His music released to date has no place in the stations' music line-up.
b) His Cd has not been made available to the station for play.
c) It's not up to the radio stations, rather the record producers to make the material available for airplay.
d) His sound simply holds no commercial appeal.

All of the above reasons have absolutely no real world validity, all these excuses simply some type of formulated spin. Too, there are several songs in his post-Idol material that would make viable play in at least the soft rock stations' line-ups, Soul Thing comes immediately to my mind.

The Right Place, the song he sang on Regis and Kelly is definitely another tune that should have a place in the radio line-ups. I have always been curious why that particular track has never been released as a single. This was a song supposedly originally written for Ray Charles for heaven's sake. Think if Ray had recorded it he'd been told it wasn't a radio friendly offering? Hell no. He'd perhaps be up for a Grammy or something, critics fawning all over the piece. Taylor haters be damned, Mr. Hicks does a great job on the song whenever he performs it.

It does give me pause to wonder why the seemingly shunning by the 19E group of Taylor Hicks continues. He made such an impact on and for their show. In articles I have managed to find, rumors exist that Mr. Hicks is still being held "mum" regarding being able to comment on anything American Idol related. That is some stringent contract. (Perhaps Jeanni and her 'experts' should go to work on that aspect...wait, nevermind.)

So, to those asking "Where in the world is Taylor Hicks?", I have no answer.

Taylor Hicks To Give Some Heart and Soul in Dallas

Taylor Hicks is set to appear Saturday, March 29, at the "Heart and Soul" Greenhill Gala 2008. This is an annual fund raising event to raise money for Greenhill’s Financial Aid Endowment Fund. The Greenhill School is a private school located in Addison, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. The school is known for the quality of education it provides the students fortunate to attend.

Focus on the curriculum not simply your basic pass the TAKS test type format, rather the students are exposed to a wide variety of cultural and artistic educational opportunities not found in the public sector, and not always found in other private facilities. One of the key points that set the school apart from many of the private schools in our area; it is non-denominational, free from a specific religious base. The Greenhill Gala is geared toward offsetting the financial costs for students attending the school. It's a great school backed by generous donors, but this fund raising event solidifies scholarship opportunities.

Mr.Hicks was selected as the performer of choice by the school's entertainment committee last Fall. The naming of this Gala as "Heart and Soul" coincidentally corresponds with one of the songs Taylor sings on his "Under the Radar" album titled, "Heart and Soul". This could be an opportunity for Taylor Hicks to develop some new fans, silence some of the naysayers, and importantly increase his exposure as an artist and entertainer who cares about kids. Taylor Hicks is already known in his home state of Alabama for his supports of Kid One and Studio by the Tracks.

Taylor Hicks' appearance this month might be coming at an opportune time considering in Dallas, not much news has filtered through sources outside of the press release that he and his record company, J Records, have parted ways. Scanning through Taylor's myspace page today, I found myself reading comments by the same individuals I read the last time I stopped by a few weeks ago. One of the common questions still being asked by these faithful, dogged commentators, the still not named release date for the DVD, "Whomp at the Warfield". Since no news has come out regarding the DVD and Taylor Hicks is said to be working on a new CD, perhaps a fitting blog from Mr. Hicks to the effect of "Artist at Work" or "Musing With My Muses" could possibly provide ease for the daily posters and their inquiries for new material. (Time to toss the fans a "bone", Mr. Hicks.)

Taylor Hicks & Regis & Kelly & The Fanatics

Taylor Hicks is scheduled to perform on "Live with Regis and Kelly" during "Wedding Week 2008" on Friday, February 8. It seems the bride and groom have requested Mr. Hicks to appear. I have read that Taylor Hicks' will sing, "Places I've Been", a song from his post Idol Cd. The pair getting married, Kacy Hardenbrook and Jordan Edsall. Taylor Hicks' is definitely seeing his name in the press lately. Good and bad. Blogger known as MFOYA brought Mr. Hicks' into the eye of RADAR Magazine from observations made regarding Taylor Hicks' love life and love interest seen last Summer in Hawaii. Yesterday AOL News picked up the story from RADAR Magazine and featured it in the entertainment section. Those two stories not exactly shedding a positive light on Mr. Hicks, but they are bringing him media attention that seems to be growing. Nothing the media and journalists like more is to capture a name and a story that will garner viewers' and readers' attention. Taylor Hicks may not have sent BillBoard charts soaring through the record industry ceiling when his post-Idol Cd was issued, but he is beginning to once again capture the interest of the National public.

Granted the majority of the posts from the AOL News' comments section were not glowing reports from the Soul Patrol fan base, or the regular Hicks' fans; comments were mostly from regulars on the AOL News site who were not waxing enthusiastic in their commentary about having any news coverage on the man. Even so, there have been almost 300 comments posted since the story came out yesterday around noon. That says, especially looking at other articles on AOL News as well as RADAR Magazine, Hicks is a polarizing individual and his name brings those readers.

Taylor Hicks appearing on Regis & Kelly for their annual wedding celebration, especially with the heart-warming story featured for the couple who won the honors will be some positive exposure. Possible with some of this National media coverage regarding Taylor and these gossip tales being handled by the entertainment news sources, we'll see an even bigger audience tuning in to give this man another viewing, and another listen.

In a more personal note, I had some messages sent to me last evening from my inverted fan crew over at the Caroline Lyders' Fan Site. One, had Chill, the site leader, creating a big ol' howdy-do in the form of a computer screen sized "FUCK YOU" - apparently the "I WANT TO" part did not fit into the screen...It was like Valentines early. Big warm and fuzzy there, baby. Not interested though, chica, you're not my type.

Jeanni in all of her 'Einstinian' way, I mean this woman is a Loon Genius, tries to correct the way that possessive form is to be used pertaining to words ending in "s", including Taylor Hicks' name. I'm not going to post the entire comment, here's the part we are all corrected on correct possessive form:
"By the way, the possessive of Hicks is Hicks’s.
Get that through your thick head.
What? Journalism has gone to the dogs. If there is a story there I can’t find it with a bloodhound."

Ms. Jeanni was on a rant about seeing that I and other writers are using this: " Hicks' ". For future reference, here is some information that might help that delusional lady - or not. That darling woman has to be the work of too many relatives in the same town.

For the other Fanatics, F.Y.I., the comments seen on AOL were not expressing disdain toward MFOYA or RADAR Magazine, unfortunately most were about not caring who the hell Taylor Hicks is or hearing about his love life. Many were snarkers that frequent entertainment sites and post for enjoyment.

That all said, I'll have the Tivo set to record "Regis & Kelly", February 8th to watch and review Taylor Hicks' performance during the wedding for that fortunate couple.

Taylor Hicks' News: MFOYA Goes Nationwide

MFOYA Goes Wide. Nationwide. The Taylor Hicks 'alternate' news blog, and site of controversy is rumored to soon be enveloped with national exposure and attention.


The on-line presence known as MFOYA has shown some mad skills in creating controversy and uproar within the fan world of Taylor Hicks. Uproar stemming from their bulldogged coverage of a few photos that hit the Splash news site some time ago and the identity theories of the woman or women in question. Regarding the truth behind the theories, that has yet to be proven, yet surely this persona knows how to garner the attention.

Conversely while discussions on the site have had at the focus, the reality behind a romance that Taylor Hicks has been involved with this site has also, in part created some interest and exposure for Hicks. That adage, any publicity is good publicity surely proven in this situation, but unfortunately strife and division may be being knifed through the group of avid Taylor Hicks enthusiasts. I have witnessed this and felt the stings first hand by my association with this individual.

Personally, I don't understand the circumstance or the why or rationale regarding the doppleganger bait and switch story swirling around the blondes involved within this story. Perhaps the only one who could clarify this situation would be Taylor or his spokes person, who ever that may be. The main consensus being that MFOYA whose identity is being held in confidence, seems to have hit a a big nerve and holds a rather intriguing storyline. I've been impressed with the intelligence and savvy of this individual.
