Taylor Hicks, Bo Bice, Jason Castro and Sanjaya! Oh My!

The American Idol Attraction at Disney World, Orlando, Florida, is throwing its Grand Opening this weekend. Much fanfare to ensue as members of note creating the show behind this attraction, such as Simon Fuller and cast mates, Paula Abdul and Ryan Seacrest make the parade on February 12th. You won't be seeing Simon Cowell, apparently in London overseeing yet another one of his many shows, and Randy won't be representing the Dawg House. Who knows where he is. Almost forgot, no Kara either.

Featured cast aiding in the promotion of this new Disney feature, past winners Jordin Sparks, David Cook, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, and of course, my Mack Daddy, Taylor Hicks. Funtastically exciting for me - past IDOL BLUES subjects, Sanjaya Malakar and Jason Castro will be there waving to the crowd. Also on parade, beautiful Bo Bice, accompanied by Bucky Covington, Diane DeGarmo, Melinda (got new record out) Doolittle, Josh Gracin, Justin Guarini, Michael Johns, LaKisha Jones, Kimberley Locke, Mandisa, Syesha, Chris Cligh, Carly Smithson, Phil Stacey, Brooke White, and Ace Young. Noticeably absent, Chris Daughtry. Must be touring obligations or... something.

Obviously this is working in many directions regarding promotions. Everyone in attendance to receive some attention, the show gaining publicity and of course Disney's banking on making even more cash. Anyone holding Disney stock these days?

Sanjaya Malakar Interview with NumbNuts on The Mikey Show

Sanjaya grants a telephone interview with "The Mikey Show" on Rock 105.3 FM in San Diego on June 6th. The DJ's come across as complete asses, deluding themselves as believing they sound humorous, hip and smart. Evidence that they know nothing about what they are talking about - their main man, Mikey, is clueless about the Bill Vendall situation as well as Will Farrell's "Funny or Die" website. (He calls it Funny or Guy...) One member of the ensemble - Eddie - knew about Farrells' site and corrected Mikey. The interview goes even further South when a statement is made by Mikey claiming that Howard Stern was pushing to get the boy off American Idol, when in fact Howard was pushing to keep him in the competition.

Listening to Sanjaya, I picked up that he was trying to be polite to these wanna-be Howard Stern knock-offs. Sanjaya holds back from correcting them - give him a year or two and he'll set fools like this straight from the get-go.

"The Mikey Show" aired for a time in Dallas, Texas and were fired after a relatively brief stint on KEGL. I listened to parts of "The Mikey Show" - not while he was in Dallas, I couldn't stand his show while he was on KEGL, but as a refresher, and it reconfirmed my previous viewpoint of the show's whole schtick - the cast, the ensemble are merely bad versions of Howard Stern copycats. Unlike Howard and his staff who actually research material and make sure they know what they're talking about, these folks just use sarcasm and wisecracks and fake giggles to cover for their ineptitude. The difference between being funny and trying to be funny is all in how the material is handled. Handle it wrong, like in the case of this show and the straining to be funny cast end up sounding more than immature and well, plain stupid.

Whoever is screening whom Sanjaya Malakar is granting interviews with dropped the ball in having him to do a phone-in interview with this group of numbnuts. Just like the interviewers need to do their homework on their subject, so do the folks scheduling the interviews. Sanjaya should not have granted these fools one moment of his time. The folks calling into the show confirmed why "The Mikey Show" is doing well in San Diego - their listening audience sound as idiotic as the program's ensemble.

Check out the interview off this site, reminder, it's the June 6th entry.

Sanjaya's Time and Bo Bice's Glory

Sanjaya Malakar hits # 3 on Time's 100 on-line poll. Dedicated fans voted and voted for days to show their support and appreciation of Sanjaya.

Here's a Bo Bice video from "Blades of Glory" to honor the boy.

I love the subtle humor. Bo Bice sounds amazing. Nice tux, reminds me of the one my date wore in 19** LOL to our senior prom. I made him wear it - matched my dress.

Sanjaya Mobbed by Fans on Good Day + Ratings Drop on Idol

Wow, watching this skinny kid in his t-shirt, handling the crowd with his sweet humility confirmed everything I saw and still see in him. He's one fabulous kid and all the folks who lambasted him so brutally are that much lower in the humanity chain. This boy has such a good heart and so much soul. His Mother must be so proud.

Sanjaya - One of the most beautiful men in America?
Poll at ABC NEWS Folks just can't quit talking about Sanjaya.

Ratings for Tuesday night's Idol Gives Back extravaganza are down, Toni Fitzgerald writes in an article in MediaLife Magazine, "The reality singing show fell to its lowest Tuesday rating of the season last night, a 9.6 Nielsen overnight among adults 18-49, as the contestants and a huge array of celebrity guests appealed to viewers to pledge money for numerous American and African charities."

Of course this number still tops the night in number of viewers but experts think that ratings for next week without the perk of the special guest stars featured this week, the ratings will continue to fall. Perhaps AI6 needed Sanjaya much more than they realized.
